About Us

Coalition for Drug Abuse Prevention (CDAP) was established in Winston-Salem/ Forsyth County on May 21, 1990. The purpose of this Coalition was to be a primary resource on matters related to substance abuse and the mission was to reduce alcohol and other drug problems through coordinated and committed community prevention efforts.

The Coalition has undergone transition since then and in February 2020, CDAP became the Partnership for Healthy Forsyth and is also a 501(c)(3). Currently, meetings for the coalition are held on a bi-monthly basis.

The Partnership for Healthy Forsyth will select environmental strategies based on findings from a community assessment and planning stages pertaining to established risk factors and local conditions. Selection of environmental strategies to address alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD) among youth and young adults will be based off CADCA’s environmental prevention strategies and SAMHSA guidelines of evidence-based environmental strategies. A multi-prong approach that decreases youth access to alcohol and vape products, changes community norms that promote underage alcohol consumption and vape use and addresses policies pertaining to underage drinking and youth vape use will be implemented by a community collaborative to maximize impact. Some of the strategies that will be implemented include, but not limited to:

  • Youth Alcohol and Tobacco Purchase Surveys
  • Youth Prevention Education
  • Secure Storage and Safe Disposal
